The structure of Cheshire Homes
The Cheshire Homes South Africa is part of Leonard Cheshire Disability. The first home was founded by Group Captain Leonard Cheshire V.C. in England in 1948, and there are now 350 homes worldwide.
The first home in South Africa was established in 1964 and now there are 16 homes throughout South Africa. We are one of the largest organisations in the country providing residential care for people with disabilities.
In the Cheshire Homes Gauteng branch area, we have three homes namely the Soweto Cheshire home in Soweto, Ann Harding Cheshire Home in Randburg and Elethu Daveyton Cheshire Home in Ekurhuleni.
Success Stories
Over 40 People with disabilities have gone through the Soweto Cheshire Home programe and have either found gainful employment in the open labour market or started small and medium business. By achieving this they have become roll models for other persons with disabilities and also gained respect and dignity within their communitie
